GNU.FREE

GNU.FREE is a suite of Java-based software programs for providing heavy-duty election services via the Internet. It is scalable, with strong security & privacy as well as proper logging and has communications-level encryption of all data transmitted using an RSA/Blowfish system. It is database- and platform- independent. It has an automated configuration tool and complete documentation to help administrators run successful ballots on any TCP/IP network.

The program has been internationalized, with 9 languages available. Test ballots and automated Electoral Role data import have been implemented. A message digest system has been added to make logs tamper-resistant. The PollManager Application lets polling station managers use GNU.FREE services in a ballot even if it uses postal and conventional voting systems (or a mix thereof).

This project was a GNU package. It has since been decommissioned and is no longer developed.
