sawfish

Sawfish (formerly known as sawmill) is an extensible window manager using a Lisp-based scripting language--all window decorations are configurable and all user-interface policy is controlled through the extension language. This is not just a layer on top of twm, but a wholly new architecture.

Since its aim is to manage windows as flexibly as possible, sawfish does not have desktop backgrouds, application docks, or other things that can be added through separate applications.
