Flyspell is a minor Emacs mode performing on-the-fly spelling checking. It is unobtrusive and requires no help. It highlights incorrect words as soon as they are completed or as soon as the cursor hits a new word. It is language independent because you can select your own dictionary and is compatible with TeX editing (it tries to not highlight TeX commands). Flyspell uses pop-up menus to propose corrections for mis-spelled words. You can also store the word in the global dictionary, add it to the current document dictionary or ignore the mis-spelling for the current session. Flyspell can also propose automatic corrections.
