Gnuml is the backend that manages mailing lists and archived email messages. Most information is saved in an SQL database (PostgreSQL at the moment). A2gdm is a frontend to the gnuml database; it lets you to read messages and perform actions on lists (subscribing, unsubscribing, etc.). There is an admin mode where each list owner can administrate his or her list.
