Exim is a message transfer agent (MTA) dev … Exim is a message transfer agent (MTA) developed at the University of Cambridge for use on Unix systems connected to the Internet. It was originally based on Smail3, and has a similar configuration style, but has developed a more flexible and extensive set of facilities. The developers warn that v. 4.00 has had many changes, including incompatible changes to the run time configuration file.hanges to the run time configuration file.
