Free Software Foundation-Free Software Directory-Artificial Intelligence Project Team.png

The Artificial Intelligence Team gathers free software resources regarding machine learning / artificial intelligence-related topics.

Machine learning (ML) applications consist of software (e.g. database management systems, and libraries) and non-software (e.g. data, and models) elements. In Free Software Directory we evaluate only the freedom of the software component of ML applications. Please note that the scope of user's freedom may also be affected by the status of an ML applications input data and of the non-software elements. The Free Software Foundation is currently working on freedom in machine learning applications.

The terminology on this page may be challenging for typical software users to grasp. For fundamental terms (such as AI and LLM) and guidance on when to avoid them, refer to our words to avoid page, and consult the glossary of artificial intelligence for specialized terms used here.
