Text scanning and processing language
Gawk is the GNU implementation of Awk, a specialized programming language for the easy manipulation of formatted text, such as tables of data. Gawk features many extensions beyond the traditional implementation, including network access, sorting, and large libraries.
DocumentationThis package is well suited for working with text files, when several kinds of tasks occur repeatedly, for extracting certain lines and discard the rest is needed, or for making changes wherever certain patterns appear. It can handle simple data-reformatting jobs with just a few lines of code.
