Dependency and freedom issues
GNU+Linux client
None exists.
riot-android
Has "conditional" freedom status when built. Only builds for F-Droid are free/libre, others aren't. This "conditional freedom" is programmed in the source files and is activated automatically by default, so it seems that the Riot proprietors only want to "reach out for more people" rather than provide free/libre software for everyone. See this discussion on libreplanet-br mailing list (in Brazilian Portuguese).
riot-web
Requires non-free software, or the website visitors aren't informed on which license covers the software and where to get the complete corresponding source files. See this discussion on libreplanet-br mailing list (in Brazilian Portuguese).
