But it can also be used in a manner similar to NoScript (to block scripts) and/or RequestPolicy (to block all 3rd-party servers by default), using a click-and-point user interface. - [https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Blocking-mode Blocking mode]

uBlock Origin have features that currently other blockers (including [[uBlock]]) lacks:

* Anti-block to bypass AdDefend/Yavli on given sites (defined in assets/ublock/filters.txt)

* [https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Strict-blocking Default strict blocking]. Completely block blacklisted domains.

* [https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Inline-script-tag-filtering Inline script tag filtering]

* The filter type '''popup''' also blocks popunders.

==More==

"The default behavior of uBlock Origin when newly installed is to block ads, trackers and malware sites -- through EasyList, EasyPrivacy, Peter Lowe’s ad/tracking/malware servers, various lists of malware sites, and uBlock Origin's own filter lists.

There is an idea floating around that uBlock Origin is a lesser branch relative to [[uBlock]].

The current reality is that there are two branches, not an official one and a lesser one. I keep developing my branch the same way and in the same spirit I have since the beginning of uBlock in June 23, 2014, so in substance uBlock Origin is the original uBlock." - [https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/blob/master/README.md Raymond Hill]

"uBlock Origin is not "based on" uBlock 0.9.5.0 or any version -- the two versions diverged starting at 0.9.3.0. I don't like the word "based on" because from my point of view I have just kept developing it without interruption since June 2014." - [https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/issues/839#issuecomment-148926481 Raymond Hill]

As of May 2015, "uBlock Origin" continues to be actively developed and maintained by founder and lead developer Raymond Hill, but he has withdrawn his support for "uBlock", citing "serious incompatibilities in the spirit of the project". The "uBlock" version of the software has seen little development since.

The project specifically refuses donations.

uBlock Origin (uBO)

https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock
A wide-spectrum blocker. Easy on CPU and memory.

µBlock Origin (µBO, pronounced micro-block origin) is a wide-spectrum blocker for browsers with a simple point-and-click interface to allow users to filter and block server requests, domains, scripts, and more. By default it blocks ads, trackers and malware sites.

Users should note that uBlock Origin and uBlock, while they have some history, are now distinct programs whose code base has diverged form each other for some time, with uBlock Origin being the more actively developed and better maintained of the two.
