For the moment User pages have to be approved by a moderator, it is a known problem. it is something that will hopefully easily fixed once we eventually upgrade mediawiki. - jgay.
I use my User articles to help organize the work I'm doing, and some of it doesn't belong in the Main or Collection namespace. In case they annoy you, don't read them. They will not be deleted.
