Go
For many Go projects, a go.mod file specifies required dependencies.
Java
For Gradle projects, the build.gradle file can specify dependencies to be downloaded at compile time.
JavaScript
For projects that use npm, there is a package.json file that has "dependencies" and "devDependencies", both of which are important for inclusion in the Free Software Directory. The format of version definitions is described at [1].
Python
For many Python projects that use pip, a requirements.txt file specifies required dependencies.
