The images are written to output files, specified by the --output-file option. SANE (Scanner Access Now Easy) is a scanner framework providing access to any raster image scanner hardware (flatbed scanner, hand-held scanner, video- and still-cameras, frame-grabbers, etc.).

This package provides several graphical frontends for SANE including:

  • xscanimage, a graphical front-end that works either standalone or as a GIMP plugin
  • xcam, a graphical front-end for acquiring images continuously from cameras
  • scanadf, a SANE front end for document scanning
