On the fly spell checker

Flyspell is an Emacs minor mode performing on-the-fly spelling checking. This spawns a single Ispell process and checks each word. The default flyspell behavior is to highlight incorrect words.

It was hosted for a long time on INRIA Sophia-Antipolis's site in France, but is now maintained as a part of GNU Emacs.

Documentation

To enable Flyspell minor mode, type:

M-x flyspell-mode <RET>. This applies only to the current buffer.

To enable Flyspell in text representing computer programs, type: M-x flyspell-prog-mode <RET>. In that mode, only text inside comments is checked.

N.B. Flyspell is compatible with TeX editing.
